How to use The Lipliner

Your step-by-step guide to applying lip liner
Your guide to applying lip liner:
1. Begin with soft and clean lips.
Make sure your lips are exfoliated for a smooth result.
2. Choose the right shade
For a natural look, use a liner that matches your lip tone. For more definition, go a shade deeper. Or go for a bold lip and have fun choosing your color for your desired look. If you’re pairing with lipstick or gloss, choose a tone that complements, not competes.
3. Trace the natural lip line
Start in the corners of your lips and draw the line towards the cupid. Connect the lines in the middle - when starting in the corners of your lips. Keep the pressure light, think sketching, not outlining.
4. Refine the shape
Balance both sides without overcorrecting. Soft symmetry is more flattering than forced perfection.
5. Fill in, if desired
To add depth and staying power, gently shade in the lips with the liner. This also gives a more seamless fade if you’re wearing gloss.
6. Finish with lipstick or gloss
Apply your colour of choice. The liner will hold it in place and create a quiet frame for the finish.

Define your lip
Why lip liner matters:
A lip pencil gives shape and structure to your lips. It can subtly enhance volume, prevent feathering, and help colour stay in place longer. It's a quiet step—but one that brings calm and clarity to your look.

Different shades for different purpose
Lip liner and gloss – the everyday pair
The softness of gloss meets the structure of liner. Together, they balance ease and intention. A liner defines the lip's edge and keeps gloss from slipping, while the gloss adds light, moisture, and movement. For us, The Oil In Gloss is that final touch; nourishing, sheer, and uncomplicated.

Lip liner mistakes to avoid
- Overlining too far – stay close to your natural lip shape. Subtle enhancement looks more effortless.
- Dry lips – liner clings to dry patches. Prep with balm and exfoliation.
- Hard edges – blend slightly with a fingertip or brush to soften the look.
- Wrong tone – is there a wrong shade? No. Is there a wrong tone? Yes. Some have a natural blue/cold undertone to there lips and skin, some have a natural yellow/warm undertone to their lips and skin. There is no wrong answer, choose the shade you feel comfortable in and have fun with lipcolor.
- Forgetting the corners – liner should meet gently at the corners to avoid a broken line.
